Delivery of aid to vulnerable families
Thousands of families have been beneficiaries of the feeding, hygiene, and cleaning kits from “Juntos Vamos a Superarlo”, which is a fund that was created by a group of companies with human sensitivity in order to provide assistance to the most vulnerable Nicaraguan families so that they can face the COVID-19 Global Pandemic.
This initiative had an initial fund of U$1,377,000 dollars, which was allocated through 21,907 feeding packages which contained: rice, beans, cooking oil, oat, sugar, and corn flour. The same number of hygiene and cleaning kits were delivered which were comprised of: reusable facemask, alcohol liquid, chlorine, soap, and gloves with the purpose of helping poor families to take care of their health.
In addition, 700 kits were delivered to five national reference hospitals, which were comprised of reusable medical gowns, gloves, goggles, face shields, medical caps, surgical masks, and shoe covers for the protection of doctors and nurses providing care to patients with respiratory problems. Furthermore, 24 thousand meal services (lunch) were delivered to different hospitals of the country for a period of two months.
Juntos Vamos a Superarlo Fund was managed and administered by Banpro Grupo Promerica through a Trust and it was supervised by “PriceWaterhouseCoopers”, a well-known firm of independent auditors.
This program had the support and cooperation of well-known non-governmental organizations (NGOs), including: Hossana Association, Priest Fabretto Association, Nicaraguan Red Cross, Chinandega Foundation 2001, Ortiz Gurdian Foundation, Esteli Institute of Human Promotion, Somoto Institute of Human Promotion, Plan International, Profamilia, ProMujer, Save The Children, and World Vision, and it provided benefits to people from 17 departments of Nicaragua.
The Alliance made with NGOs was very valuable, and they helped to deliver every one of the packages, reaching the critical points where they were required timely and effectively. Similarly the support of dozens volunteers was also valuable, who helped to carry out the logistical process which is required by this great task at the moment of each kit preparation, making this program a reality.
